i was going to write about this on tambourinepopeye, but i thought against it, as that is a forum for the appreciation of the arts, and i got seemingly upset when i mentioned them in my last post. my little blogspot needs some love, and she needs it very soon. so since this is a safe space where i can say whatever the fuck it is that i am feeling, i thought this would be more appropriate (but to bring you up to speed as to where i am on the parlotones front, check out tambourinepopeye).
now, we all know that the parlotones are one of the most hated bands by all of those who have their fingers on the pul

i actually had no real reason to be upset. i should actually be thanking the parlotones, and their make up artist (7 year old, kelly smit). for without their lameness, some other band would have to become a corporate sell out, and with the fantastic music we have in south africa at the moment (and its only getting better as 18 year olds from belville are getting their drivers licenses), it would have had to have been a band whose finger is looming/hovering around the pulse. the beauty of aouth african music is that everyone is unique and isnt afraid to explore their own artistic paradigms and consciousness, and you best believe it, few of them are corporate sell outs. i will even let getting onto the 5fm playlist slide this time. but ja, as i was saying, without the parlotones taking the hit in order to protect the real music that is local, some other fantastic band would have been caught in the line of fire. this is because with every multi national endorsement, the parlotones become more and more pathetic, and because their music is lame, it makes it okay to point and laugh, and just generally feel sorry for them. im all for it!!
so parlotones, you continue with your sponsorships, and you make those millions. you shit all over the beauty and sanctity of the local music scene, because without you, we would not be able to truly appreciate what we really do have.
oh, and upon checking the fanpage on facebook, i would like to applaude each and every one of you! no one was a fan on their page. you guys are the real stars here. keeping everything the way it should be. and another little chuckle was here, there is a group titled, 'People that listen to the Parlotones are the ones that appreciate music!!!'. i laughed for a literal minute and a half, and laughed even harder when i saw that there are 48 members. sadnesss is...
but hey, #imjussayin
